Ben Gurion Airport Pickup Guide: Where to Meet Your Driver After Landing

Landing at Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) is only the beginning of your journey. If you have booked a private transfer, knowing how to contact your coordinator and where to meet the vehicle can save time and confusion. Here is a practical guide for arrivals heading to Jerusalem or elsewhere in Israel.

Before your flight, send these details

  • Arrival date and flight number, if known
  • Number of passengers, including children
  • Large suitcases and smaller cabin-size suitcases
  • Destination address or hotel name, not only the city
  • A reachable phone number or WhatsApp contact

Confirm the plan before you fly

A request form does not by itself confirm a trip. Agree the price, vehicle category, airport terminal and meeting instructions with your coordinator before travelling. Ask who will contact you on arrival and how to reach that person if your flight or baggage collection is delayed.

Official airport taxis are different from pre-booked pickups

The Israel Airports Authority lists licensed taxis for Terminal 3 outside Gate 03 on the ground-floor arrivals level. That is information about the official airport taxi service, where the published rule is meter-based fares. It is not an automatic meeting point for every privately arranged transfer. A pre-booked driver may use a different agreed pickup arrangement, subject to current airport access rules.

Where should you meet a pre-booked driver?

Use the exact instructions sent with your confirmed booking. Check whether your pickup is at a terminal exit, a permitted parking area or another clearly identified meeting point. Do not assume that someone will be holding a sign or waiting inside arrivals unless that service was expressly arranged. If the instructions are unclear, message your coordinator before leaving the terminal.

What should you do after landing?

Turn on your mobile connection if available, check messages and follow the agreed arrival instructions. Passport control, baggage collection and customs can take different amounts of time, so landing time is not the same as being ready for pickup. If the plan calls for a message after baggage collection, send it when your group is ready. Do not rush past an official exit or enter an unauthorized pickup area.

Travelling as a family or a larger group?

Tell the coordinator the passenger count and the sizes of your bags, not simply that you have luggage. A sedan may be comfortable for a small group but unsuitable for several large suitcases. Where needed, How2Israel can help coordinate an appropriate licensed vehicle through a partner; the specific driver, vehicle and price are confirmed for each booking.

What if the flight changes or arrives late?

Send an update as soon as you know about a significant delay, cancellation, terminal change or new arrival time. Do not assume that live flight monitoring or unlimited free waiting is included unless your booking expressly says so. Late-night arrivals, holidays and Shabbat require advance confirmation of the available vehicle and pickup terms.

Going to Jerusalem or another destination?

For Jerusalem, provide the full street address or hotel name, especially when arriving with a group or several bags. For another Israeli city, include any additional stops. A standard route and a custom multi-stop trip may have different pricing and vehicle needs. How2Israel reviews the request and confirms the arrangement before it becomes a booking.

Common arrival questions

Can I go straight to the official taxi line?

Yes, if you want an airport taxi from the official queue rather than your pre-booked transfer. These are different arrangements; tell your coordinator if your plans change.

Do I need a flight number to ask for a transfer?

You can send a request without one if you do not know it yet. Share it when available, because it helps coordinate the arrival.

Is pickup confirmed as soon as I submit the form?

No. A request is reviewed, and the price, vehicle, meeting details and availability must be confirmed before the trip is booked.
