How to Get from Ben Gurion Airport to Jerusalem: Train, Taxi or Private Transfer?

Arriving at Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) and heading to Jerusalem? The right choice depends on your arrival time, luggage, group size and final address. Here is how to compare your options.

Train from Ben Gurion Airport to Jerusalem

Israel Railways operates a direct service from the airport station near Terminal 3 to Jerusalem–Yitzhak Navon station. The train ride is usually about 25–30 minutes, but schedules vary. It can be a good-value option for solo travellers with manageable luggage. Yitzhak Navon station is not your hotel, so factor in the onward journey.

Official airport taxi

Licensed taxis serve Ben Gurion Airport, including outside regular rail operating hours. Follow airport signs to the official taxi service and confirm the current pickup instructions at the terminal. Taxi fares in the official airport queue are charged using the applicable meter rules; do not treat a private transfer quote as an official taxi meter tariff.

Pre-booked private transfer

A private transfer can be arranged before you fly. Provide your flight details if known, party size, large and small suitcases, and your destination in Jerusalem. The vehicle, price and meeting instructions are reviewed before the booking is confirmed. This is especially convenient for families, larger groups or anyone who prefers to travel door to door.

What about Shabbat and late arrivals?

Regular train services are limited or unavailable during Shabbat and some holidays. Check your actual travel date with Israel Railways before relying on a train. Official airport taxis may be available, while a pre-booked private transfer must be confirmed in advance. Allow for possible flight and border-control delays.

Which option should you choose?

Travelling alone, during train operating hours, with light luggage? Consider the train. Need a car after landing without an advance booking? Use the official airport taxi service. Travelling as a family, carrying several suitcases, or heading straight to a hotel? A pre-arranged transfer may be the easier option.

How to request your How2Israel transfer

Send your arrival date and time (Israel local time), flight number if available, the number of passengers, suitcase counts and the exact Jerusalem destination. You can request a standard or larger vehicle. How2Israel checks the details and confirms availability and price before your journey; submitting a request alone does not confirm a booking.
